Director of Academic Programs

Full-time

Reports to Executive Director

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with education experience
  • Three years minimum experience working with school-aged youth
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office, Google Suites, and preferably WordPress
  • Valid driver’s license, transportation, and insurance

Primary Responsibilities

  • Recruit and supervise a large staff
  • Create and maintain partnerships with other Striders programs and community organizations to ensure children are receiving necessary services
  • Plan, organize, and implement all aspects of curriculum and programming
  • Ensure each academic program meets grant requirements and measured outcomes
  • Encourage positive relationships with students, staff, partners, and schools as well as assisting with public promotion of all programs
  • Develop and manage program budgets
  • Assist with grant writing

Education Liaison

Part-time

20-25 hours per week

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth
  • Substantial background in education and/or after school setting
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, sound judgment, and ability to work with diverse individuals and groups
  • Ability to work with school teachers, staff, and administration to individualize tutoring experiences for many student
  • Willingness to learn and participate in required training (some evenings)
  • Ability to complete outcome reports and data entry
  • Flexible schedule (Monday through Friday)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license, transportation, and insurance

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers to ascertain student academic needs and develop individualized interventions to be utilized by tutors.
  • Use student data to assist tutors in developing intervention strategies.
  • Establish regular communication logs with classroom teachers to monitor student progress in the school setting.
  • Plan and present staff trainings and family nights in collaboration with partner agencies.

PART-TIME TUTORS NEEDED

Beginning Fall 2017

Starting wage varies from $10-$12/hour based on education and experience.

10-12 hours per week depending on placement.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1 year of college
  • 2 years experience working with children under 13
  • Classroom management skills
  • Available Mondays through Thursdays between 2:00pm and 6:00pm with various start/end times depending on placement
