Road Races

The Chautauqua Striders/UPMC Chautauqua WCA Runner of the Year Series is a year-long running competition designed to determine the top area distance runners.  During the year, runners accumulate points in selected area races.

*Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club Championship Race/Diamond Series In 2017, the Series has designated three (3) Diamond races.   Those races will determine the Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club champion for Youth (18 & under) Overall and Master’s Division (40 & older) at 5 Kilometers, 8 Kilometers, and Half Marathon.  Additionally, Diamond races will offer double points for both overall and age-group divisions.



Starting Line at Winter 5K Series

5th Annual TRZ 5K / 10K / Kids Fun Run & Walk

On Saturday, August 19th, 2017, TRZ (The Relief Zone) will be hosting the 5th annual 5K / 10K / Kids Fun Run & Walk Event to promote The Relief Zone Community Youth Center, Frewsburg and healthy living.

The event will be held at the Frewsburg Town Park, 19 Parkway Drive, Frewsburg, NY 14738.

Registration/Check in starts at 7:30 AM on race morning and the day will be kicked off with the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run (and walking events) at 9:00 AM, followed immediately by the 5K / 10K Run / Walk events (approx 9:30 AM).

New for 2017:

* The 10K Race will be picked up by the 2017 UPMC Chautauqua WCA Runner of the Year Series,

* Chicken BBQ to follow the race

Awards will be given for Top 3 Male and Female Finishers as well as to both males and females in the following age groups:

Kids Fun Run: 7 and Under, 8 and over
5k / 10k: 19 and under, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, 50 – 59, 60 – 89, 70 +

On Sunday, September 3, Chautauqua Striders will host the 2017 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K Race and Walk. The event raises money to support youth programming and a scholarship named after our later co-founder. Since 1979 Chautauqua Striders has been helping young people realize and achieve their fullest potential on the track and in school.

The 2017 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K Race is designated as the 5K Club Championship for the Chautauqua Striders AC.   

The race starts a great day of events at the City of Jamestown’s Labor Day Festival. The festival starts at 1:00 p.m. and offers food vendors, arts and crafts, entertainment, and closes with a spectacular fireworks display. We hope you will join us!

CASA in Warren is sponsoring a 5K and a 1 Mile Walk/Run on September 23 in Russell, PA.

Every 5K registration includes an optional 1 mile fun walk/run starting at 9:15 am.
T-Shirts not guaranteed for registrations after September 9th!
Finisher medals for all 5K finishers and costume contest for 1 Mile & 5K participants.

The Child Advocacy Program (CAP) will hold the 4th Annual 5K Run/Walk & Kids’ Hero Run around beautiful Cassadaga Lake, starting and ending at the beach on Park Street in Cassadaga, NY.  The Step Up For Kids 5K is USATF Certified and Sanctioned.  Timing will be conducted by using chip technology.  Proceeds support the Child Advocacy Program of Chautauqua County.

Starting Line at Winter 5K Series

2017 Chautauqua Striders Winter 5K Series

The Chautauqua Striders Winter 5K Series is an “age-graded” race series. Age-grading levels the playing field for all runners, just as a “handicap” is intended to do in bowling and golf. It provides the runner with the percentage value of an “ideal” or best time for his or her age and gender.

The 5K course is similar to the one used for the Amy’s Run.  However, the start and finish will take place on the corner of East Terrace and East Summit.   The start time for each race is 10:00 am Runners must check in prior to race between 9:00 and 9:45 am at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, 433 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, NY.  Please park in lot across street from main building.

Runners placing in the top 50 of each race based on age-grade percentage will be awarded points as follows: 50 points for first place, 49 for second, 48 for third, etc.  A runner will receive zero points for any race that he or she does not run.

Cost is only $55.00 per runner.  Any participant, who is an immediate family member of another participant who has paid the $55.00 entry fee, can participate in the series for only $15.00. To be eligible for awards, participants must register for the entire series.

Those registering after December 20 will pay $60 for the series and $20 for each immediate family member participating in the series.

Registration for individual races within the series is $20 per race.  Runners will receive their finishing time and will be eligible for raffle prizes. Late registrants can register for the series from 9:00-9:45 am on January 7.
