The Chautauqua Striders/UPMC Chautauqua WCA Runner of the Year Series is a year-long running competition designed to determine the top area distance runners.  During the year, runners accumulate points in selected area races.

*Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club Championship Race/Diamond Series In 2017, the Series has designated three (3) Diamond races.   Those races will determine the Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club champion for Youth (18 & under) Overall and Master’s Division (40 & older) at 5 Kilometers, 8 Kilometers, and Half Marathon.  Additionally, Diamond races will offer double points for both overall and age-group divisions.

Fluvanna 5K Fest

Making history in our second year of the annual Fluvanna Fest 5k! Race your heart out or just enjoy a walk with friends and family through Fluvanna’s quaint neighborhoods. The 5k festivities will begin at 9am on Saturday, June 17th with the start and finish of the race at the Fluvanna Community Church (3363 Fluvanna Ave. Ext. Jamestown). CASH PRIZES awarded to the top finishers! Along the course you’ll cruise along the lake, by Fluvanna landmarks like the historic War Vets and Old Church, be cheered on by spirited Fluvanna neighbors and finish under a tribute to our local firefighters (both professional and volunteer) and the biggest American flag you’ve ever seen before you slide (or slip) through a massive pile of foam – you don’t have to slide through the foam…but you should! The race will be professionally timed, utilizing chip technology!

Proceeds from the 5k go to The Fluvanna Community Historical Society and the community revitalization projects they have planned. Registration is $20 and each runner and walker will receive an awesome Tshirt if registered before June 10th. We are asking that participants pick up their race packets the night before the race – Friday, June 16th anytime from 5-8pm at the Fluvanna Community Church.  If you are unable to pick up your race packet on Friday evening, you can pick it up the morning of the race between 6-8:30am.

  •  It begins at Wright Park
  •  You follow Lake Front BLVD
  •  At the end of Lake Front BLVD you will enter a path that goes by the water front
  • At the end of the path you will make a right and go around the pier
  • Once you go around the pier you will make a right onto a path that will go around Memorial Park
  • You will loop around Memorial Park, make a right back onto the path.
  • You will go straight across the pier to the original path you were on.
  • Take that path back to Lake Front BLVD
  • Take Lake Front BLVD back to Wright Park for the finish!

The GLOW Your Mind 5K is being put on through the collaboration of The Community Alliance for Suicide Prevention, Chautauqua Tapestry, and the Chautauqua County Department of Mental Hygiene. Timing and race management will be provided by Chautauqua Striders. The partnership came out of the groups’ common goal to generate awareness that mental wellness and physical wellness are of equal importance in everyone’s lives. 100% of the proceeds stay local in Chautauqua County and will be used for suicide prevention efforts.

Enjoy the natural beauty of the Sanctuary while helping to raise funds for the preservation and restoration of Audubon’s unique habitats. Stay after your run/walk to visit with Liberty, the Bald Eagle and tour the exhibits throughout the Nature Center. Wild 5K is part of the 2017 Chautauqua Striders/UPMC Chautauqua WCA Runner of the Year Series.

Check-in and same-day registration will be at the Nature Center from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. Race starts at 9:00am. Special children’s events (free) will take place during the race and will be facilitated by Chautauqua Area Scholarship Program contestants. Timing will be recorded through Chautauqua Striders chip timing.

Entry Fee

Early bird registration is $20. After Monday, July 17, 2017 registration is $25. A special discount of 10% will be extended to members of ACNC and Chautauqua Striders Athletic Club, prices $18 and $22.50 respectively.

Awards

T-shirts will be awarded to all pre-registered (before July 17) participants. Participants registering after July 18, 2017 including same-day registrants, will not receive an event T-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the first three overall male and female walker and runner finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division for runners and top finisher in each division for walkers. Awards ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m.

5th Annual TRZ 5K / 10K / Kids Fun Run & Walk

On Saturday, August 19th, 2017, TRZ (The Relief Zone) will be hosting the 5th annual 5K / 10K / Kids Fun Run & Walk Event to promote The Relief Zone Community Youth Center, Frewsburg and healthy living.

The event will be held at the Frewsburg Town Park, 19 Parkway Drive, Frewsburg, NY 14738.

Registration/Check in starts at 7:30 AM on race morning and the day will be kicked off with the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run (and walking events) at 9:00 AM, followed immediately by the 5K / 10K Run / Walk events (approx 9:30 AM).

New for 2017:

* The 10K Race will be picked up by the Striders 2017 Runner of the Year Series,

* The start finish line is being moved to a new location (Frewsburg Town Park)

* Course will be Certified (USATF) – hoping you can help me out with this 🙂

* Chicken BBQ to follow the race

On Sunday, September 3, Chautauqua Striders will host the 2017 Daniel Feather Memorial 5K Race and Walk. The event raises money to support youth programing and a scholarship named after our later co-founder. Since 1979 Chautauqua Striders has been helping young people realize and achieve their fullest potential on the track and in school.
The race starts a great day of events at the City of Jamestown’s Labor Day Festival. The festival starts at 1:00 p.m. and offers food vendors, arts and crafts, entertainment, and closes with a spectacular fireworks display. We hope you will join us!

 

 

 

Starting Line at Winter 5K Series

2017 Chautauqua Striders Winter 5K Series

The Chautauqua Striders Winter 5K Series is an “age-graded” race series. Age-grading levels the playing field for all runners, just as a “handicap” is intended to do in bowling and golf. It provides the runner with the percentage value of an “ideal” or best time for his or her age and gender.

The 5K course is similar to the one used for the Amy’s Run.  However, the start and finish will take place on the corner of East Terrace and East Summit.   The start time for each race is 10:00 am Runners must check in prior to race between 9:00 and 9:45 am at the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club, 433 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood, NY.  Please park in lot across street from main building.

Runners placing in the top 50 of each race based on age-grade percentage will be awarded points as follows: 50 points for first place, 49 for second, 48 for third, etc.  A runner will receive zero points for any race that he or she does not run.

Cost is only $55.00 per runner.  Any participant, who is an immediate family member of another participant who has paid the $55.00 entry fee, can participate in the series for only $15.00. To be eligible for awards, participants must register for the entire series.

Those registering after December 20 will pay $60 for the series and $20 for each immediate family member participating in the series.

Registration for individual races within the series is $20 per race.  Runners will receive their finishing time and will be eligible for raffle prizes. Late registrants can register for the series from 9:00-9:45 am on January 7.

Program is perfect if you have never run, looking to get back into to running or seeking advice for peak performance.   Coaching staff from Chautauqua Striders as well as professionals from nutrition and weight training fields will assist during select sessions.
